9:35am Thursday 8 September 2011 – Two hazard reduction burns tonight at Pialligo

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) Jerrabomberra Brigade will conduct two hazard reduction burns tonight, Thursday 8 September, 2011, weather permitting from 6.30pm till 9.30pm at Pialligo.

Both burns are small pile burns of tree cuttings and debris on neighbouring property on Beltana and Kallaroo Roads, Pialligo.

Three tankers, two light units and 20 personnel will conduct the burns.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burns is M12.

6: 45pm Wednesday 2011 – Two men suffer smoke inhalation in kitchen fire at Bruce

Two men are being treated for smoke inhalation sustained in an apartment fire at Bruce tonight.

The ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Fire Brigade were called to the third floor of an apartment building in Thyme Street at just before 6 o’clock.

Firefighters arrived to find a small fire in the kitchen which they quickly extinguished.

Intensive care paramedics have treated two male patients for smoke inhalation and one for minor burns on scene.

They’re now being taken to Calvary Hospital in a stable condition.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental with only minor damage to the premises.

12:03pm Wednesday 7 September 2011 – Truck fire at Fyshwick

ACT Fire Brigade on scene of a truck fire on the Monaro Highway, Fyshwick.

Fire has been mostly extinguished from the engine compartment inside the truck cabin.

The occupant of the truck safely self evacuated.

Crews are expected to remain on scene till approx 12.30pm.
