3:35pm Friday 23 September 2011 – Two hazard reduction burns in the ACT tomorrow

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) will conduct two hazard reduction burns tomorrow, Saturday 24 September, 2011 weather permitting, surrounding Uriarra village and Royalla.

The Uriarra burn will commence from 10am till 3pm, near Brindabella Road surrounding the settlement of Uriarra.

Four heavy tankers, two medium units, one light unit and 25 personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx 30 hectares.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the Uriarra burn is H12.

Also tomorrow, from 9am till 4pm, the ACTRFS Guises Creek Brigade will assist a private landholder with a hazard reduction burn on the property of “The Schools”, Monaro Highway, Royalla.

One tanker, one light unit and 9 personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx 10 hectares.

The purpose of both burns is to reduce a fire hazard with the removal of accumulated fuel.

10.20pm Thursday 22 September 2011 – Small kitchen fire extinguished at Dickson restaurant

ACT Fire Brigade has extinguished a small kitchen fire at El Dorado’s restaurant, Badham Street, Dickson.

Fire occurred in a deep fryer and was contained to the kitchen.

No damage to kitchen.

Approx 35 staff and guests safely self evacuated and have now been permitted to return back inside.

Two fire pumpers and a command vehicle on scene.

Time of Emergency Triple Zero (000) call 9.14pm.

3:49pm Thursday 22 September 2011 – Grass fire extinguished at Curtin

ACT Fire Brigade has extinguished a grass fire near Adelaide Ave, Curtin, opposite Deakin Oval near a stormwater drain.

Size of area burnt 30metres x 10metres.

No property damaged.

Crews notified following numerous Emergency Triple Zero (000) calls at 3.24pm.

Cause of fire undetermined at this stage.

10:20am Thursday 22 September 2011 – Hazard reduction burn tonight at Symonston

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) will conduct a hazard reduction burn tonight, Thursday 22 September, 2011, weather permitting, from 6.30pm till 9.30pm, on Jerrabomberra Ave, near Narrabundah Lane, Symonston.

Three tankers, two light units and 14 personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx half a hectare.

The purpose of the burn is to reduce a fire hazard with the removal of accumulated fuel.
