ACT Fire & Rescue on scene at house fire in Garran

ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a fire in a single level residence in Dennis st, Garran.

There are currently three pumpers on scene with the Breathing Apparatus vehicle and one command vehicle.

The owner of the property self evacuated and alerted ACT Fire & Rescue to the blaze via Triple Zero (000) shortly after.

The property has suffered significant damage. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Controlled burn tomorrow in Evatt

The ACT Department of Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) will conduct a controlled burn tomorrow, Wednesday 7 December, 2011 weather permitting, near Croke Place, Evatt, east of Ginninderra Creek.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is J10.

Small fire extinguished in toilet block at Telopea Park High school

ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a small fire in the male toilet block at Telopea Park High School, New South Wales Crescent, Barton.

Several hundred staff and students safely self evacuated as a precaution.

Three pumpers on scene with the Breathing Apparatus vehicle, Hazardous materials unit and two command vehicles.

Crews conducting air monitoring and ventilation and expect to remain on scene till approx 12pm.

Cause of fire yet to be determined.

Crews notified following an Automatic Fire Alarm call at 10.16am.

Large tree in danger of falling on a Banks house

The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has responded to Banks tonight where a large tree is in danger of falling on a house.

The ACTSES Tuggeranong unit is on scene in Pocket Avenue working with the help of the ACT Fire & Rescue Bronto aerial platform to cut down the 12 metre long tree that has become unstable because of heavy winds.

A crew from the ACTSES Woden unit is also on scene providing lighting as the task is expected to take up to several hours to complete.
