ACT Fire Brigade on scene at a fire of a pile of mulch on Railway Street, Oaks Estate. Estimated size of pile of mulch 60 metres x 40 metres.

No property at risk.

Fire being extinguished by ACT Fire Brigade with assistance from Fire and Rescue NSW and Queanbeyan City Council.

Smoke is non-toxic and will blow over the Queanbeyan area.

Time of Emergency Triple Zero (000) call 11.22am.

8:30am Thursday 25 August 2011 – Controlled burn today at Mt Taylor

The ACT Department of Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) will conduct a controlled burn today, Thursday 25 August, 2011 weather permitting, at Mt Taylor, adjacent to Pearce and Chifley.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is K13.

5:03pm Wednesday 24 August 2011 – Grass fire near Tharwa extinguished

The ACT Rural Fire Service has extinguished a large grass fire south of Tharwa this afternoon.

The ACTRFS was alerted to the fire near the Cupacumbalong Woolshed on Nass Road just after 3:30pm.

A total of five fire units responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze which is believed to have started from a private landholder hazard reduction burn nearby.

Crews are currently mopping up.
