Update – Unit fire in Narrabundah

Firefighters continue to work extinguishing the fire with the Bronto aerial appliance being used to remove roof sheeting to gain access to the fire from above the complex.

The unit has been completely destroyed with the adjoining one extensively smoke and water damaged.

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics have treated one man in his forties on scene for smoke inhalation and burns to his hands. He has been transported to The Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.

Unit fire in Narrabundah

A unit block in Narrabundah has been evacuated following a fire this morning.

ACT Fire & Rescue is on scene with five appliances at Gowrie Court in McIntyre Street where a third floor unit is well alight.

The occupant of the unit self evacuated safely. An estimated 20 more people have been evacuated from the unit block as firefighters work to extinguish the blaze.

Update two – House fire in Kaleen

The fire has been extinguished.

ACT Fire & Rescue crews are now ventilating the smoke from the four bedroom brick and tile house.

The initial damage bill has been estimated at $150,000.

An investigation will be conducted into the cause.

Firefighters are working to contain the fire.

There are three fire pumpers, breathing aparartus support crew, the HAZMAT vehicle and commander on scene.

Occupants safely self evacuated after the fire started.

House fire in Kaleen

ACT Fire & Rescue are on scene at a house fire in Kaleen.

Fire crews arrived on scene in Blythe Street to find the property fully engulfed in fire.
