Fire in building at ANU

ACT Fire & Rescue on scene at a structure fire in a building at the Australian National University on Science Road, Acton.

Crews investigating the building to find the source of the smoke.

Building has heavy smoke logging.

People have been evacuated from the building as a precaution.

Two car accident on Barry Drive OConnor

ACT Fire & Rescue and ACT Ambulance Service have attended a two vehicle accident on Barry Drive, O’Connor.

ACT Fire & Rescue used hydraulic rescue tools to release the driver of a vehicle.

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics have stabilised the male patient aged in his 30’s and treated him for minor injuries.

The male patient is currently being taken to The Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.

Washing machine fire extinguished

ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a fire in a washing machine on Birubi Place, Giralang.

Minimal damage.

Fire caused from a fault in the machine which was operating at the time of the fire.

An elderly couple safely self evacuated.

Two fire pumpers on scene with the Breathing Apparatus van as well as the Hazardous Materials unit. Crews carrying out ventilation and air monitoring operations before allowing occupants to return to the residence.

Update on small explosion in food court at Westfield Belconnen

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics also on scene have treated one male with burns and fragment injuries to legs and have transported to the Calvary Hospital in a stable condition.

A second male patient has been treated for fragment injuries to face.

Four more patients are being assessed by intensive care paramedics.
