10:15am Thursday 22 September 2011 – Gas leak at Torrens

ACT Fire Brigade currently on scene at Batchelor Street, Torrens at a gas leak.

A 25mm gas line has been ruptured by workman and ACT Fire Brigade are currently isolating the leak.

Contractors will soon be on site to repair the leak.

No evacuations and no immediate threat to people or property.

1:28pm Wednesday 21 September 2011 – Female treated for smoke inhalation following stove top fire

ACT Fire Brigade have extinguished a small stove top fire in a unit at Strathgordon Court, Melrose Drive, Lyons.

No evacuations required.

Crews were notified by an Emergency Triple Zero (000) call at 12.13pm by a neighbour who heard a ringing smoke alarm.

No damage to the unit.

ACT Fire Brigade forced entry into the unit, removed and treated the sole female occupant before ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics continued treatment for smoke inhalation and then transported the patient to the Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.

ACT Fire Brigade would like to remind the community to don’t stop looking while you’re cooking.

10:32pm Tuesday 20 September 2011 – Two vehicle accident at Isaacs

ACT Fire Brigade and ACT Ambulance Service have been on scene of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Yamba Drive and Beasley Street, Isaacs.

ACT Fire Brigade used hydraulic tools to release a female passenger from one of the vehicles.

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics have transported a male and a female to The Canberra Hospital, both aged in their 20’s with minor injuries and in a stable condition.
