ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics treated a 55 year old man for smoke inhalation and transported him to The Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.
ACT Fire & Rescue has evacuated a small number of people from an apartment complex in Mawson because of a fire.
Crews responded to the Heard Street complex with three fire pumpers and commander.
Firefighters arrived to find a fire in the kitchen of the second floor apartment which they quickly extinguished.
Crews are now ventilating the property before allowing residents back inside.
ACT Fire & Rescue (ACT F&R) will conduct a Fire Investigation Training exercise tomorrow, Thursday 23 February 2012, at 5 Nyeena Place Narrabundah, between 10:00am and 3:00pm.
The training exercise will involve the extinguishment of a number of small fires contained to a single room within the house to assist ACT F&R by providing a realistic training opportunity for firefighters.
The fires will then be investigated using the latest fire investigation techniques by trainee fire investigators. This will enable the firefighters to develop their investigative skills in a number of different areas.
ACT F&R will have appropriate safety measures in place to ensure there is no impact on neighbouring properties.
ACT Parks and Conservation Service is planning to undertake a Hazard Reduction Burn tomorrow, Thursday 23 February 2012, weather permitting.
The burn will commence at approximately 11:00am on Firth Rd near Black Mountain.
Ten personnel, one heavy tanker and one command vehicle will conduct the burn covering a total area of approximately one hectare.
The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is K11.
ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has received nine calls for help tonight following the wet and windy weather.
ACT Fire & Rescue and ACTSES have responded to leaking roofs as well as a fallen tree at the intersection of Northbourne Avenue and Cooyong Street, Braddon, which damaged a power line. Minor damage reported.
