5:00pm Friday 5 August 2011 – Two hazard reduction burns this weekend

The ACT Rural Fire Service is conducting two hazard reduction burns this weekend.

Gungahlin Brigade is scheduled to conduct some small heap burning between 1:00pm and 5:00pm within the Lindsay Pryor Arboretum on the intersection of Lady Denman Drive and Barrenjoey Drive at Yarramundi Peninsula.

The ACT Handy Map reference for the burn is K12.

Guises Creek Brigade is scheduled to conduct a burn on a private property along the Monaro Highway at Royalla tomorrow and Sunday.

2:50pm Thursday 4 August 2011 – Two hazards reduction burns in the ACT tomorrow

The Territory and Municipal Services Directorate will tomorrow conduct hazard reduction burns at Hall and Tuggeranong Hill.

The burn at Hall will occur near Hoskins Street and Alexandra Street and involves an area of approximately 1.3 hectares.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference point for the burn is J9.

The burn on Tuggeranong Hill will occur on the corner of Drakeford Drive and Tharwa Drive Calwell and involves and area of approximately 9 hectares.

3:56pm Wednesday 3 August 2011 – Hazard reduction burn in Oxley

The Territory and Municipal Services Directorate will tomorrow conduct a hazard reduction burn tomorrow at Oxley Hills.

8:55pm Tuesday 2 August 2011 – Update three – House fire in Banks

Firefighters completely extinguished the fire by 7:30pm.

A crew will remain on scene overnight.

ACT Fire Brigade fire investigators will begin examining the scene tomorrow to determine the cause.

The initial estimated damage bill has been increased to $600,000.

6:11pm Tuesday 2 August 2011 – Update two – House fire in Banks

Firefighters are expected to work well into tonight to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.

The house has been completely destroyed. The initial damage estimate is $400,000.

The cause will be investigated.

The ACT Fire Brigade was originally alerted to the fire around 5pm by multiple emergency triple zero calls.
