Hazard Reduction burn tonight at Symonston

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) Jerrabomberra Brigade will conduct a hazard reduction burn tonight, Thursday 24 November, 2011 weather permitting, near Jerrabomberra Ave, Symonston.

The burn will commence from 7pm till 9pm.

Three heavy tankers, two light units and 20 personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx 20 metres x 80 metres.

The purpose of the burn is to reduce a fire hazard and a training opportunity for volunteers.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is L13.

One person trapped in Oaks Estate accident

ACT Fire & Rescue are on scene at an accident involving a bus and car on the corner of Oaks Estate Road and Yass Road Oaks Estate.

Update on car fire at Duffy

Car fire has been extinguished.

Vehicle has sustained serious fire damage.

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics have transported patient to The Canberra Hospital in a serious condition with 100 per-cent burns to his body.

Time of Emergency Triple Zero (000) call 9.27am.

ACT Fire & Rescue will hand the scene to ACT Policing to investigate.
