Update Two – Carriage fire at museum

The fire has been extinguished.

ACT Fire & Rescue is using thermal imaging equipment to ensure there are no hot spots.

Firefighters are also treating the scene as a possible asbestos exposure.

Update – Carriage fire at Railway Museum

The fire is under control.

No damage to the museum but some damage to the roof of the carriage.

Crews were notified following an Emergency Triple Zero (000) call at 1.24pm.

Two Fire Pumpers, one Compressed Air Foam System Tanker, the Breathing Apparatus Van, the Hazard Materials Unit and one Commander is on scene.

There are no injuries.

Early investigations suggest the fire started following workman welding in the carriage.

Carriage fire at Railway Museum

Firefighters are working to extinguish a fire in a carriage at the Railway Museum, Cunningham Street, Kingston.

The carriage has been moved out of the shed at the Museum and ACT Fire & Rescue has knocked down the fire.

Crews are continuing to extinguish the carriage which is now smouldering.

Small electrical fire extinguished at Tuggeranong Homeworld

Firefighters are on scene at Dan Murphys, at the Tuggeranong Homeworld complex, Scollay Street, Greenway, following a small electrical fire in a light fitting.

Approximately 10 people were evacuated as a precaution as ACT Fire & Rescue investigate the smoke from the light fitting.

Staff and customers will be permitted to return once firefighters conclude with ventilation and air monitoring operations.

There is minimal damage.

Two fire pumpers and one Commander responded to the incident.
