Further Deployments of ACT Personnel to Queensland

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have requested further assistance from the ACT through the National Resource Sharing Centre (NRSC). This is due to the persistent major bushfire activity that is being experienced in the state. This morning a Public Information Officer and a Fire Behaviour Analyst were deployed to Rockhampton and Kedron respectively, and add to the 34 ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) firefighters already assisting in Queensland. The ACT has also identified six more personnel to deploy tomorrow to fulfil the NRSC request. They will fill the roles of Air Base Manager, Air Base Operator and Division Commander in Rockhampton and Operations Officer in Bundaberg. The 34 ACTRFS firefighters that were deployed on Friday 30 November 2018 will return on Monday 3 December 2018. They will be replaced by a further 34 firefighters from ACTRFS and ACT Parks and Conservation Services who will depart on Monday 3 December 2018. The deployment of these firefighters and specialist staff will not impact on the level of fire protection to Canberra and the surrounding regions.
