ACT Fire & Rescue, ACT Rural Fire Service and ACT Parks and Conservation Service will conduct four hazard reduction burns in the ACT today, Saturday 28 April 2018.
Dependent on suitable weather and fuel moisture conditions the burns will be undertaken at the following locations from 9:00am to 4:00pm:
– Devils Gap between Tidbinbilla Road and Corin Road
– Schwarz Place, Fraser
– between Blackall Street and Bowen Drive, Barton
– near the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China at Flynn Drive and Coronation Drive, Yarralumla
Smoke may also be visible across the ACT from hazard reduction burns being undertaken by NSW Rural Fire Service to the North-West at:
– Baldy Range Two Sticks Road, Uriarra
– Tinkers Creek, Uriarra
ACT Parks and Conservation Service will continue work on the eastern side of Black Mountain Nature Reserve between Barry Drive and Frith Road.
Fire tankers, pumpers, and support vehicles will remain onsite for the duration of the burns, departing once the burn areas are secure from any flare ups.
The burns will reduce fire fuel loads to protect our community and improve ecosystem health.
