ACT assisting NSW at fire southeast of Queanbeyan

The ACT is responding a taskforce in support of NSW firefighters working to extinguish a grassfire burning at Carwoola, southeast of Queanbeyan following a formal request for help from NSWRFS.

There is no threat to the ACT from this fire which is burning in an easterly direction.

The ACT taskforce contains:
3 x heavy tankers
2 x light units
1 x group officer/commander

Both of the ACT’s bushfire helicopters are now also working at the fire.

1 x medium water bombing helicopter
1 x small air attack helicopter

The ACT has also sent one liaison officer to the NSWRFS Lake George Zone headquarters at Queanbeyan.

UThe Canberra community is urged to remain vigilant witha Total Fire Ban in place in the ACT until midnight.
