Update two – ACTSES resonds to calls for help

ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) volunteers are managing the final few jobs received following stormy weather yesterday.

A total of 167 requests for assistance have been received, and three ACTSES crews have been tasked to complete the last outstanding jobs.

Significant damage was reported on several properties, mostly across North Canberra, where 85% of all calls for help were received. The suburbs most affected included Hackett, Aranda, Hawker, Watson, Dunlop, Giralang and Flynn. Jobs in Belconnen accounted for 62% of all call-outs.

In total, from 5pm yesterday to 6pm today, 95 ACTSES volunteers provided more than 450 hours of service to the community.

ACTSES volunteers were also supported by ACT Fire & Rescue, ACT Rural Fire Service and Transport Canberra and City Services teams.

For storm and flood assistance call the ACTSES on 132 500.
