Update two - ACTSES responds to calls for help

The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has now received 52 requests for assistance since 4pm today following wet and windy weather across Canberra.

Six ACTSES crews have been stood up to respond to these jobs and are being supported by ACT Fire & Rescue and the ACT Rural Fire Service.

The majority of jobs have been for trees on roads, with some trees on power lines and property.

The ACTSES urges Canberrans to stay clear of fallen power lines and trees and be aware that trees and branches could fall in windy conditions. Residents should stay indoors, clear of windows.

For storm and flood assistance call the ACTSES on 132 500.
