Hail storm strikes the ACT

The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has activated all of their volunteer units in response to the storm tonight.

So far 70 calls have been recieved by the ACTSES for help with emergency storm damage.

These jobs are being responded to by ACTSES units and ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R) crews.

Initial reports are the majority of jobs are for water inundation or hail damage and are located in and around Tuggeranong.

No serious damage has been recorded so far.

An incident management team is established at the ACT Emergency Services Agency HQ to coordinate the response.

ACTF&R crews are also responding to reports of power lines down in Curtin and Theodore and multiple automatic fire alarms across the city.
