16 calls for help following wet weather

The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has received a total of 16 calls for help since 7 o'clock this morning following the wet weather.

ACTSES volunteers and ACT Fire & Rescue crews have responded with minor damage relating to leaking roofs across a widespread area of the ACT.

The ACTSES advise that flash flooding may occur in areas due to a high volume of water entering a water system in a short period. Also, the ACTSES remind the community to avoid walking, riding or driving through flowing water and to ensure children do not play near stormwater systems.

Residents who require storm or flood assistance can call the ACTSES on 132 500.
