ACT continues to support interstate counterparts

An ACT strike team will head south this morning to continue supporting firefighting efforts north of Cooma.

The 28 member team, departing at 7 o'clock, will be made up of ACT Rural Fire Service firefighters, ESA MAPS volunteers, aerial firefighting coordinator and a fire control centre liaison officer.

The strike team is scheduled to work the day shift on the fire ground for the next three days with further deployments likely after this.

A team of five specialist ACT remote area firefighting team (RAFT) firefighters are expected to be tasked this morning to work on one of numerous fires near Cann River in eastern Victoria.

The crew travelled to the area yesterday for a six day deployment.
