Update – ACT firefighters heading to the Monaro

ACT firefighters returned home this morning after spending the night battling a large bushfire north of Cooma.

The ACT Taskforce worked hard overnight on the fireground on Shannon’s Flat Road including putting containment lines around a large part of the 654 hectare fire.

ACT State Emergency Service volunteers were bussed down to scene early this morning to drive the ACT Rural Fire Service personnel and their fire trucks back to Canberra.

NSW Rural Fire Service local brigades will continue firefighting efforts on the ground today before another ACT Taskforce is deployed back there tonight.
