Update five - Storm causes flash flooding and damage

The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has received a total of 262 calls for help as a result of storm activity this afternoon.

ACTSES, ACT Fire & Rescue, ACT Rural Fire Service and TAMS crews are responding to the jobs, mostly in the northern suburbs within Belconnen and Gungahlin.

A lot of the calls are for flooding and fallen trees and tree branches. ACTEW AGL personnel are also attending to reports of fallen power lines and isolated power outages.

The community is strongly urged to stay away from any fallen power lines, treat them as 'live' and report it to ACTEW AGL on 13 10 93.

Anyone requiring storm and flood help can call the ACTSES on 132 500.
