Hazard reduction burn to also take place at Gungahlin tomorrow

The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) Gungahlin Brigade will tomorrow, Saturday 15 September, 2012, weather permitting, conduct a hazard reduction burn adjacent to Horse Park Drive, Gungahlin, south of the suburb of Forde.

The burn will commence from 10am to 6pm.

One heavy tanker, one medium tanker, one light unit, one command vehicle and 11 personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx two hectares in size.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is L9.

The purpose of the burn is to remove a fuel hazard.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
